If you are traveling to Machu Picchu on your own and want to make a one-day tour to Machu Picchu, you should follow these steps:
Step 1: Get up very early (approximately 5:00 a.m.) and go to the "Pavitos" station in the Historic Center of Cusco. Take the bus to Ollantaytambo around 5:30 a.m.
Travel time: 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Step 2: In Ollantaytambo, board the "Expedition" train, which departs at 7:45 a.m. for the Aguas Calientes station. Arrival time is 9:15 a.m. Remember to purchase your train ticket weeks in advance.
